Cette place rend hommage à tous les soldats sans aucune distinction, parfois étrangers, qui furent blessés ou qui portèrent l’uniforme français pendant au moins 120 jours lors des guerres d’Afrique du Nord :
du 1er janvier 1952 au 2 juillet 1962 en Tunisie ;

du 1er juin 1953 au 2 juillet 1962 au Maroc ;

et du 31 octobre 1954 au 2 juillet 1962 en Algérie.

Un monument avec une plaque commémorative rendait aussi hommage aux anciens combattants d’Indochine (1946-1954) et aux harkis, soldats musulmans ayant participé à la guerre d’Algérie (1954-1962) sous l’uniforme français. 

Depuis le 11 novembre 2013, l’actuelle maire Maryse JOISSAINS a inauguré une statue « La Lionne Tronquée » commémorant tous les soldats de toutes les guerres du XXe siècle avec cinq plaques.

This square pays homage to all the soldiers without distinction, sometimes foreigners, who were wounded or who wore the French uniform for at least 120 days during the wars in North Africa:

from January 1, 1952 to July 2, 1962 in Tunisia;

from June 1, 1953 to July 2, 1962 in Morocco;

and from October 31, 1954 to July 2, 1962 in Algeria.

A monument with a commemorative plaque also paid tribute to the veterans of Indochina (1946-1954) and to the harkis, Muslim soldiers who took part in the Algerian war (1954-1962) in French uniform.

Since November 11, 2013, the current mayor Maryse JOISSAINS has inaugurated a statue "La Lionne Tronquée" commemorating all the soldiers of all the wars of the 20th century with five plaques.
