Paul FERRÉOL naît le 12 octobre 1918 à Aix.

Il est l’arrière-petit-fils naturel du poète et écrivain provençal Frédéric MISTRAL. Il termine son service militaire lorsque la Seconde Guerre mondiale éclate. Il rejoint les armées alliées au nord de la Norvège où il participe à la bataille victorieuse de Narvik en avril 1940. N’acceptant pas l’armistice de juin 1940, il adhère à l’armée de la France Libre. Un long périple le conduit alors en Guadeloupe, en Syrie, au Liban, en Égypte et en Tunisie. En 1943, affecté au 2ème Bataillon des Chasseurs alpins, il participe à la grande épopée de la 2e D.B. commandée par le Général LECLERC jusqu’à la libération.

Après une brève carrière d’assureur, il entre en politique. Il sera conseiller municipal de la ville d’Aix pendant 26 ans et presque autant conseiller général du canton d’Aix sud. À plusieurs reprises, il sera adjoint au maire.

Paul FERRÉOL meurt dans sa ville natale le 2 mai 1997 à l’âge de 78 ans, laissant un garçon et deux filles, dont la comédienne Andréa FERRÉOL.

Paul FERRÉOL was born on October 12, 1918 in Aix.

He is the natural great-grandson of the Provençal poet and writer Frédéric MISTRAL. He finished his military service when World War II broke out. He joined the allied armies in northern Norway where he took part in the victorious battle of Narvik in April 1940. Not accepting the armistice of June 1940, he joined the army of Free France. A long journey then took him to Guadeloupe, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia. In 1943, assigned to the 2nd battalion of Alpine hunters, he participated in the great epic of the 2nd D.B. commanded by General LECLERC until liberation.

After a brief career as an insurer, he entered politics. He was municipal councilor of the city of Aix for 26 years and almost as much general councilor of the canton of Aix sud. On several occasions, he will be deputy mayor.

Paul FERRÉOL died in his hometown on May 2, 1997 at the age of 78, leaving to mourn a boy and two girls, including the actress Andréa FERRÉOL.
