Antoine Charles FABROT est né à Aix, le 15 septembre 1582.

Très jeune, il se montre doué dans l’apprentissage des langues étrangères. Il parle couramment le grec et le latin lorsqu’il décroche son doctorat en droit, à 22 ans.

Ensuite, il sera professeur à l’Université de droit d’Aix avant d’en devenir le doyen.

Au-delà de sa brillante carrière en droit, il fut surtout reconnu en tant que traducteur de textes anciens et notamment en droit.

Antoine Charles FABROT meurt dans sa ville natale, le 16 janvier 1659, à l’âge de 76 ans.

Son œuvre est immense et plusieurs de ses ouvrages peuvent être consultés, aujourd’hui encore, à la Bibliothèque Méjanes d’Aix.

Very young, he showed himself gifted in learning foreign languages. He was fluent in Greek and Latin when he received his doctorate in law at the age of 22.

He then became a professor at the Law University of Aix before becoming its dean.

Beyond his brilliant career in law, he was especially recognized as a translator of ancient texts and in particular in law.

Antoine Charles FABROT died in his hometown on January 16, 1659, at the age of 76.
