The Y-shaped Rue des GUERRIERS is established on the site of the land bordering the rampart of Bourg SAINT-SAUVEUR before the city of Aix underwent its third expansion.

In February 1355, the troops of the States of Provence met there before going to besiege the Château des Baux-de-Provence in the hands of Robert DURAS who was at the head of nobles rebelling against Queen JEANNE. Since then, the name “Guerriers” or “Warriors” will continue to qualify this street.

To see :

Some remains of the ramparts, dating from the 14th century, are visible today. Among these was the house of the executioner according to ROUX-ALPHERAN.
