Elle reçut son nom après qu’un puits public fut creusé par la ville. À l’époque, les habitants étaient persuadés que son eau avait des propriétés divines attribuées au sol où des vignes d’appartenance ecclésiastique avaient été plantées. Il faut comprendre « nouveau » dans le mot « neuf » de ce puits public qui a aujourd’hui disparu.
It got its name after a public well was dug by the city. At the time, the inhabitants believed that its water had divine properties attributed to the soil where vines belonging to the Church had been planted. We must understand "new" in the word "neuf" of this public well which has now disappeared.
